"The Carl Zeiss Touit Distagon 2.8/12mm T* is the widest lens in the Fujifilm XF and Sony NEX line-ups, and is therefore worthy of attention from anyone interested in landscape and architectural photography. As well as offering a very wide angle of view, it's alsoa great lens in its own right, with virtually nothing to complain about apart from the high cost of ownership.

The Carl Zeiss Touit 12mm lens is remarkably sharp in both the image centre and at the edges throughout almost the entire aperture range. The fast maximum aperture of f/2.8 makes it easy to creatively throw the background out of focus, with the nine-blade iris diaphragm achieving some lovely bokeh effects for such a wide-angle lens. Vignetting is very well-controlled and chromatic aberrations are hard to find. There is some very slight barrel distortion, but given the ultra-wide-angle focal length its certainly nothing to worry about. The close-focus point of 18cm comes in handy when including foreground interest in the image, as you often do in landscape and architectural photography.

The Carl Zeiss Touit Distagon 2.8/12mm T*'s auto-focus system is a little hesitant on the Sony NEX-5R that we tested it on, with a slight delay before locking focus. It offers a generously wide focusing ring, and on the Fujifilm XF version a very welcome aperture ring which makes it quick, easy and precise to set this key element of exposure. We did miss having a focusing distance scale with depth-of-field markings, though, for easier zone-focusing. The overall build quality is excellent with a lens mount that's made of metal and, thanks to an internal focusing (IF) system, the front element and 67mm filter thread do not rotate on focus, which is very good news for those using polarisers and ND grads on a regular basis.

The main downside of the Carl Zeiss Touit Distagon 2.8/12mm T* lens is the price - at around £950 / €920 / $1,250 it's substantially more expensive than the closest Fujifilm and Sony lenses, and with 18mm being something of a niche focal length, you really need to be certain that you'll use it enough to justify the cost. For landscape and architectural photographers who want the widest angle of view and the best image and build quality, though, the Carl Zeiss Touit Distagon 2.8/12mm T* lens certainly won't disappoint."

Ils sont très positifs (excellente qualité optique dès la pleine ouverture), regrettant simplement, compte tenu du prix, que certaines aberrations soient corrigées par le boîtier au lieu de l'avoir été optiquement.

"A very nice man from Carl Zeiss showed me a prototype of an upcoming lens for the Zeiss Touit line of lenses, the Zeiss 50mm f/2.8 Touit Macro. This lens will be available in Sony NEX and Fuijifilm X mounts at the beginning of 2014 for a price of somewhere around ~$1,000.00. Since this was a prototype the autofocus wasn't the best but I was assured and expect this will improve before the final version considering how well most mirrorless lenses are focusing now. The lens was very sharp and got down to 1:1 (...). My main complaints (which many share) are that these lenses don't seem to be weather sealed or weather proof or really weather anything and that the focusing ring is lackluster at best."

Où l'on découvre que certains défauts optiques de ce Zeiss (distorsion, vignetage) sont corrigés par le boîtier ou par le dématriceur quand celui-ci bénéficie du profil ad hoc.

Leur conclusion :

"The Zeiss Touit 32mm f/1.8 is capable of delivering the high quality results that we associate with this brand. The images are sharp straight from the max. aperture and the center quality is even stunning when stopping down. The peak quality of the borders/corners is certainly good but it stays somewhat short of the high expectations here. Lateral CAs may be just visible without being disturbing. Distortions and vignetting are usually auto-corrected either by the camera or your favorite RAW converter. However, when looking behind the scenes, you can spot higher than expected issues here - which is a bit disappointing for a pricey Zeiss lens. Given its max. aperture of f/1.8, the Touit is obviously meant for speed so it's good to see that the bokeh is of high quality and well controlled bokeh fringing.

Overall we liked the build quality - and looks - of the Zeiss lens. The incorporated materials are obviously of high quality. However, the aperture ring may not be everybody's darling - while it provides distinctive "clicks" you tend to change the setting by (un-)mounting because it turns too easily. To be fair this is hardly a show stopper though. We weren't totally convinced by the AF - e.g. Panasonic or Sony lenses feels quite a bit snappier here - but it does an Okay job in terms of AF speed and the generated noise level is quite low."

Sortie de la version 1.03 du micrologiciel des Zeiss Touit 12 mm f/2,8 et 31 mm f/1,8 en monture Fujifilm X.

Les améliorations apportées :

- Amélioration du suivi autofocus
- Ajout de la compatibilité avec l'autofocus à détection de phase des boîtiers Fuji qui en sont équipés.

Le 50 mm f/2,8 macro n'est pas concerné car il dispose de ces améliorations depuis sa commercialisation.
