C'est vrai que ce n'est pas précisé dans mon post mais ce ne sont pas mes photos mais les photos des zamis...
Je voulais juste montrer le potentiel du 100-400 II face à un ténor : le 300 f/2.8 L IS en proxy photo de gros insectes

La distance mini en proxi, c'est vraiment ce que je regrette en étant passé du 100-400 (1) au Tamron 150-600, qui garde une Map mini trop longue, ...

Une solution consiste à monter, non pas un multiplicateur, mais une bague-allonge sur ce gros zoom.
J'avais vu Art Wolfe faire cela, pour prendre en gros plan les tatouages des Maoris en Nouvelle-Zélande.
J'ai testé, et ça marche vraiment bien !

Oui, j'ai déjà essayé aussi, mais c'est tout sauf spontané quoi !
Là où le 100-400 permettait de s'approcher quand même assez près (je ne sais plus, 1,50m ?), le 150-600 botte en touche à 2.70m, c'est trop pour la proxi tranquille.
Mais c'est un 600mm donc faut garder à l'esprit qu'on ne peut pas triturer les formules optiques dans tous les sens non plus tout en conservant la qualité requise...

Toujours aussi content avec le recul de ce 100-400? Je vais sans doute pas tarder à craquer alors, bon...

Pour le x1.4 sur 6D, canon ou Kenko pro? J'aimerai conserver l'AF même si il n'est pas très rapide... Et ce ne sera pas l'utilisation principale du zoom, juste du dépannage...

Difficile de te répondre,,,c'est une question de feeling
J'ai remarqué,,,,quand on vend et si il n'y a pas une urgence financière,,on a souvent des regrets !!

Quand tu n'auras sur toi que le 70-200f/4LIS, tu le trouveras trop court et regretteras de ne pas avoir pris le 100-400...
Quand tu n'auras sur toi que le 100-400L IS II, tu le trouveras trop gros et lourd et regretteras ...de ne pas avoir pris le 70-200...
Quand tu auras revendu ton 70-200, tu auras juste après à couvrir un évènement qui collait tout pile à l'utilisation du 70-200...
Si tu gardes ton 70-200, tu ne te serviras que du 100-400, te faisant regretter de ne pas avoir vendu le 70-200 !

C'est la vie !

On est d'accord sur le 2.8 mais le 4  

THG ,tu dis que le piqué est exceptionnel sur le 100-400 , donc c'est pour ça que j'ai envie de l'essayer .
Et puis à 1700 € , ça vaut le coup

The evenness of performance, no matter what focal length you use and what place of frame you take into account, is truly impressive. The lens remains sharp even on the edge of full frame and doesn't have any resolution slip-ups. If you add to that the much-improved stabilization, a huge step forward when compared to the older model, you get practically a lens as close to perfection as it is only possible; its flaws, connected to vignetting and flares, aren't anything serious. Our joy is dampened only by the price of the new Canon – over 3000 PLN higher than the price of its predecessor. However if you can afford it and you purchase it you will be happy with your decision. The Canon EF 100–400 mm f/4.5–5.6L IS II USM will not only guarantee sharp photos but also will be a joy to use.

Summary

In use, the EF 100-400L f4.5-5.6 IS ii has moved itself significantly upward in my estimation, compared to the lens that it replaces. With such an array of advances, performance is improved significantly in virtually every aspect of performance, and especially those that matter most to my shooting style.  This lens has definitely closed some of the gap that exists between zoom lenses and fixed lenses in image quality.  Of course, as good as it is, the moderate maximum aperture obviously does place some limits on what it can achieve. That needs to be offset against it's compact and relatively lightweight form, which may be one of its most important attributes for some photographers.

As a package it does much more than I had hoped it would.  It has fast become one of those pieces of gear that I am excited to use, as I have full confidence that it will get me the shot.
