"This lens makes me happy. It is close to perfect in itself. But – more importantly – the Sony A7r and it are symbiots.

The OTUS 85/1.4 may be an absolute pig to focus on a Canikon camera (the OTUS 55 certainly was on my D800e). But on the A7r, it's simply perfect. Its permanent control on light, matched with the Sony's fabulous sensor, means it's almost impossible to blow highlights (I use my A7r between +1 and +2 EV all the time, occasionally +3EV).  Focusing is just so easy and pleasurable (on static objects) it's also impossible not to get it right 100% of the time.

Lab rats will probably be perplexed. While the OTUS measures unlike anything else before it, the otherworldly technical abilities are bottled up as ever-present potential and never really brag as you'd expect them to, in photographs at usual sizes. Intricate detail is present everywhere but serves the sense of realism more than it flatters the owner. It really is the proverbial iron fist in a velvet glove."

"The Zeiss Otus 85mm f/1.4 Planar T* is simply a superb prime lens for portrait photographers looking for the ultimate in image quality. You'd expect sharpness to be high across both the frame and aperture range from such a premium optic, and it doesn't disappoint. In conjunction with the new Canon EOS 5Ds test camera shooting at 50 megapixel resolution, detail is exceptionally detailed and sharp. Shooting at the maximum f/1.4 aperture does reveal a minor reduction in sharpness compared to the rest of the aperture range, but the image is already pin-sharp by f/1.8.

The Zeiss Otus 85mm f/1.4 Planar T* is also a pleasure to use, thanks to its superb build quality and smooth focus ring. As this is a manual-focus only lens, you'd expect this aspect of the operation to be intuitive, and so it proved, although the Canon EOS 5Ds isn't really geared up for accurate manual focusing.

There is only really one drawback to the Zeiss Otus 85mm f/1.4 Planar T* - yes, you've guessed it, the price. £3,299.99 / €3,360.50 / $4,490 is an incredible amount of money to pay for any lens, even one as good as this. If you shoot enough portraits to justify the cost, though, and you can learn to love the manual-focus only nature of the lens, the Zeiss Otus 85mm f/1.4 Planar T* is a superb choice for full-frame DSLR owners that's capable of truly stunning results."

J' ai eu l' occasion de prendre cette optique en main.

Que dire le piqué est superlatif, la mise au point, avec Nikon D800, est possible, merci au point vert.

Ceci dit, le tarif est lui stratosphérique.

1.2 kg l' animal est imposant.

Je ne vais pas craquer, je pense.

je ne suis pas convaincu...
je trouve le piqué inversement proportionnel au tarif!
mais bon! je fais peut-être erreur,surtout sur une image postée sur un forum!
quand au point vert pour l'aide à la map, ce n'est pas une spécificité Nikon

Au minimum, le point est en-avant de l'œil proximal.
