Il sera intéressant de le comparer avec la version Art...le nouveau est plus léger et la formule optique semble plus ambitieuse...l'encombrement par contre est similaire et le prix n'est que légèrement minoré.

We have found that the SIGMA 30mm F1.4 DC DN | Contemporary in MFT mount does not properly correct distortion during JPEG shooting.
* For RAW images, it is possible to correct distortion by using the adjustment functions in compatible software.

Currently, we are working on the necessary actions and updating the firmware of the lens.

We are going to make a further announcement when the firmware update for the lens is ready via either the camera body or software.

- In the camera setting, select "Auto" in the distortion compensation from the lens compensation menu.
- If the camera does not incorporate the lens compensation function, the lens cannot offer distortion compensation.

The Sigma 30mm F1.4 DC DN C lens offers quite an unusual standard focal length of 45mm for APS-C compact system cameras and a slightly longer 60mm for Micro Four Thirds cameras. It offers acceptable sharpness wide-open at f/1.4 (at least in the centre), good build quality, nice bokeh and fast and quiet auto-focusing, all at a very affordable price.

The Sigma 30mm F1.4 DC DN C is tack-sharp in the centre from f/2 onwards, although you need to stop down to f/4 to get acceptable results at the edges of the frame. Disappointingly the lens does suffer from obvious chromatic aberrations when shooting wide-open at f/1.4, along with some vignetting, although stopping down to f/2 almost completely removes the purple and green fringing that is so prevalent at f/1.4.

Build quality is very good, with the brass lens mount and sober all-black design adding to the high-quality feel, and Sigma have even generously included a very good circular lens hood. The auto-focusing system proved to be pretty quick and reliable on the Sony A7R II that we tested the lens with, and manual focus override at any time is a great feature.

The modest asking price of the Sigma 30mm F1.4 DC DN C is very reasonable indeed for such a fast, well-built lens. We do have some concerns about the image quality, particularly when shooting at that headline-grabbing f/1.4 maximum aperture, but overall the Sigma 30mm F1.4 DC DN C is well worth considering.

- Focale un peu longue en Micro 4/3 ou un peu courte en APS-C
- Non-homogénéité du piqué aux plus grandes ouvertures

Au final, nous n'avons pas grand-chose à reprocher à cette nouvelle focale fixe conçue pour les hybrides Sony (APS-C) ou Micro 4/3 ; elle reçoit donc naturellement son label recommandé. Excellente prise en main, qualité de construction, très grande ouverture, qualité optique (surtout entre f/2,8 et f/5,6) : la check list est complète.

Équivalent à un 45 mm (APS-C) ou 60 mm (Micro 4/3), cette focale est relativement bien adaptée au reportage (bien qu'un peu longue) et au portrait (bien qu'un peu courte). C'est donc un entre-deux qui faudra apprivoiser. Sa très grande ouverture de f/1,4 lui confère une belle polyvalence, aussi bien en prise de vue dans de faibles conditions lumineuses que pour réaliser de beaux effets de bokeh.

When you compare the results achieved by the Sigma C 30 mm f/1.4 DC DN and the Panaleica DG Summilux 25 mm f/1.4 ASPH. it seems the Panasonic company chose the wrong address. Instead of luring customers with a logo of a fading legend they would have fared much better if they had struck a deal with Sigma; their lenses would be better and cheaper. The comparison of prices is especially painful for Panasonic. Currently (June 2016) you have to pay as much as 1599 PLN for the Sigma whereas the Panaleica costs about 2300 PLN. Keep in mind the fact that the Sigma enjoys a novelty status on the market – if the Panaleica was at its place, its price tag would be even several hundred PLN higher.

Will the Sigma get even cheaper after a time? Perhaps a bit but to be honest there are no reasons whatsoever to lower its price. If you look at the Micro 4/3 system's line-up it is actually the best lens in its class available on the market.

With the 30mm F1.4 DC DN Contemporary, Sigma has produced a real winner. They've made a sharper and brighter autofocus lens than anything available in the APS-C E-mount lineup. Not only that, but they've also eliminated any major penalties there used to be with using a third-party lens on E-mount cameras.

All this has been achieved while costing less than the 35 F1.8 OSS, and in fact many APS-C F1.4 primes for other systems. There is a slight cost in terms of distortion, but the high amount of sharpness means images should be more tolerant of correction.

The result is a lens that deserves no less than the highest praise. It is a relatively lightweight F1.4 prime for low light needs and producing shallow depth of field, and makes an excellent lens for street shooting, or anywhere else a photographer might typically use a 50mm lens (or in this case 50mm equiv.). A beginner wanting to replace or augment their kit zoom with a decent walk-around prime should definitely consider the Sigma 30mm F1.4 DC DN | C and learn how to 'zoom with your feet.' Seasoned photographers will love the amount of quality packed in to its size, and will find the 45mm equiv. field of view is as functional and versatile and creative as the classic 50mm field-of-view is.

Perhaps now we should describe the Sigma 30mm f/1.4 lens as a wolf in sheep's clothing, as its unassuming exterior houses a superb compact lens that really delivers the goods. Even without considering the price, the lens is an absolute gem. The modest price tag is a wonderful bonus.
