Après le 14 mm f/2,4 et le 85 mm f/1,2 annoncés dans le cadre de la Photokina 2016, Samyang semble en passe d'annoncer un troisième objectif dans sa gamme Premium d'objectifs à mise au point manuelle pour reflex, le XP 50 mm f/1,2. Nokishita Camera nous en fournit trois premières images :

Je ne comprenais pas le positionnement reflex de l'objo (MaP plus complique qu'avec un EVF), mais avec le poids je comprends... Pour nos amis videographes qui utilisent les équivalant Canon? (il suffit de voir les stats de LensRental pour voir que ce sont des objos qui attirent)

Pour les astrophotographes, ça peut être aussi intéressant mais je n'espère pas de miracle pour les défauts comme le coma dans les angles. A comparer avec le sigma art, moins lumineux.

Le Canon est une optique « artistique » . Celui-là est probablement destiné à founir du piqué et de l'homogénéité,  et ce même avec les hautes résolutions . Il pourra aussi servir pour les photos en basse lumière ne réclamant pas beaucoup de pdc.

Il me semble aussi qu'en AF non live view, la mise au point manuelle avec assistance se résume au collimateur central... le recadrage ajoutera du flou sur le sujet. Alors qu'une version AF eût été plus simple à gérer.

Tu es sûr de ça? Sur mon 14 mm SP + 6D, les collimateurs latéraux fonctionnent.

Avec un objectif AF sur mon K1 en mise au point manuelle c'est possible. Avec le 50 F1.2 KA, je n'ai que le collimateur central. A moins que j'ai oublié de cocher une fonction dans le menu.

There is very little difference in brightness between a f/1.4 and f/1.2 lens. The wider aperture also means more difficulty in focusing, but only because the point of focus is so fine. In reality, if used carefully with magnifying aids then it is highly accurate. The lens is also very bulky and very heavy, certainly quite huge compared to a conventional 50mm f/1.4. However, the price is reasonable and the standard is very high, so there are clear benefits for those for whom the difference is significant. In any event, the performance is exemplary.

The Samyang XP 50mm F1.2 is a very fast, high quality standard prime lens for full-frame DSLR and mirrorless cameras, but it's also very large and very heavy for a 50mm optic (even heavier than the XP 85mm f/1.2 lens), it doesn't offer the best sharpness when shooting wide-open, and it's only currently available in the Canon EF mount.

In terms of image quality, both centre and edge sharpness are excellent between f/2 and f/11, but there's obvious softness evident wide open at f/1.2 to f/1.8 in both the centre and edges of the frame, which somewhat negates the lens' headline maximum aperture. On the plus side, there is little evidence of chromatic aberrations or vignetting at wide-open apertures and the iris diaphragm with 9 rounded blades makes for a very pleasing rendering of the out-of-focus highlights at f/1.2-f/1/8, just so long as you don't mind some softness at those apertures.

The build quality is outstanding, with the metal lens mount and housing adding to the high-quality feel, although the rubberised focusing ring does pick up dirt and fingerprints very easily. Samyang have also included a very good circular lens hood, although it's a very tight fit. As this is a manual-focus only lens, you'd expect this aspect of the operation to be intuitive, and so it proved, with the very wide focusing ring complete with hard stops and a large rotation angle of 180 degrees enabling smooth and precise focusing.

The price of the Samyang XP 50mm F1.2 is reasonable enough given the headline grabbing f/1.2 aperture, excellent image quality, and solid construction. There are some significant drawbacks with this lens, though, most notably the softness when shooting wide-open, its manual-focus-only nature (very tricky at f/1.2), the lack of any weather-sealing, and the sheer weight of it.
