Speaking of Sonnar formula’s and the Bertele project, we are happy to report the optical blocks are nearly all finished. They currently are fully loaded with optics and the recreated Jena round bladed aperture system. While the 1930’s 5cm f/2 sonnar is a small lens compared to many other full frame lenses, it is no less extremely complex inside its pocketable size. As can be seen from the exploded view diagram, there is over 20 parts that make up the optical block alone. What differs on our design versus the original is the usage of a more Leica synergy friendly, 39x0.5mm front filter thread, with a certain feature on the outer front to accept Wetzlar style pinch on hoods. There will be a forthcoming announcement in the new year regards the 5cm f/2 Bertele lens availability for all those that are on our pre-order notification list.
